Peace and quiet in the French countryside

Driveway

From the road the drive of 250 metres sweeps round to the left into the court yard. There are 42 trees of variety (according to Susan) from a huge Birch and Conifers to a trio of Hazel nut, two Sweet Chestnut a Walnut, Mistletoe in Hawthorn and many more .

Court yard

Well, large enough for the parking of all but the largest race meeting!

Our field

The 3.5 acre field to the left of the drive (as you enter the property) is normally used by our neighbour for his horses. He works with rescue animals, currently there are two Palomino's in residence. They quite like to be pampered; carrots go down a treat.

The Lake

This is (I think) the best feature of the property. Over a third of an acre in size and fully stocked. The Carp are a resonable size and getting bigger year by year. It's restful and lively at the same time. Wild life abounds. All of which can be savoured from a comfortable seat on the south facing patio, whilst enjoying a nice glass of wine

Sample fish caught this summer just in case you didn't believe me! For the record Susan actually caught this but didn't like to hold it, too cold & moves, she broke her rod as well!!

The Paddock

To the rear of the house is an area of approx. 2 acres of paddock, again sometimes used for the horses. Here you may find many of our resident friends, Woodpeckers (they live in the large Oak), Wood pigeons, Rabbits, Hares etc, etc. We have commenced conversion of this area into our growing area (see Potager)

The whole grounds are a haven for all kinds of birds particularly in the Spring when nesting. At this time the skies are full of Swallows who take great delight in swooping for water from the Lake all day
